Zippy – Zip Car’s AI
Zippy is a tour guide, personal assistant, and sidekick all rolled into one. This state-of-the-art AI provides navigation, trip ideas, commentary, and insights based on the driver’s interests, driving history, and destinations. “I know you love pizza. We’re coming up on a restaurant with the best-ranked margherita pizza. Would you like to stop?”
Taking this further, what if each car had different personalities and names? Dash, Scout, Cruise, and Navi. Or each personality is modeled after famous curious people or characters—Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Indiana Jones, Hermione Granger, Maria Curie, etc. Drivers must drive each car to engage with each personality.
Gamify it.
Zippy provides tons of fun for riders through a multitude of games. Riders compete against fellow college students by accumulating points over a certain amount of time. A leaderboard on Zipcar’s website keeps tally. Earn so many points to earn Zipcar status levels or to win monthly challenges for the chance to win prizes or discounts.
For popular rivalries, Zipcar tournaments allow colleges and universities to compete against one another.

Zipcar will provide “curiosity tours” and trip ideas via social channels like Pinterest, TikTok, Lemon8, and Instagram. Whether you have 2 hours or two days, each itinerary will be full of cheap and fun ideas, including everything from a packing list to the estimated cost.
On these same platforms, Zipcar will also post travel tips and tricks, such as how to plan a romantic date for less than $30 or pack a picnic using items in your dorm.
